Home today in Beijing. Today we give the ladies some small donations we have brought. |
| Nov 13, 6am (China time) Still don't have any pictures up yet ... mostly because I've not taken very many yet. I know, I know. Bad blogger! I promise that I'll take plenty today and it will be worth you wait since it will be of the babies in one of the homes! You won't want to miss that. Nothing really to report. Zoe and I are on that verge of trying to get something like a sore throat/cough (very polluted even though it's snowing). So we're taking extra vitamins, trying to sleep, plenty of fluids, etc. Zoe also hit her face on a chair yesterday and it got REALLY red. Poor thing. Today it's sore and I'm hoping it doesn't bruise. Zoe is also acting a little strange. I know, unheard of for a 4 year old! She was reassured over and over that she will be staying with me, coming back to America, we're just here to visit, etc. She could even tell you that in words. But yesterday, when the lady driver from the group home came to get us (she remembered Zoe), Zoe would not talk to her. When we got into the children's home, she was like a Zombie. She would not move, talk, smile, etc. She clung tightly to Shari or me. (Which is fine.) I still told her we were just there to visit but there was something. She had no personality, not wanting to see or play with the babies. Very strange. We got in the car and as soon as the door closed, she was back. She laughed, talked, etc. I can only guess what was in her mind. I'm hoping she understands now because we're going back today to the same place. We've talked about it this morning and she says she was just scared. Scared of what? She said, "I didn't want the babies to hit me." And I know this isn't based in the current since she is WAY older and way bigger than these children. None were aggressive or crying or anything. Makes me think it was a feeling from past experiences. Who knows. Today, we get to take the small gifts we've brought for the nannies. It's such a small token but I just wanted to say "Thanks". I truly know how hard this job must be ... and they do it well and willingly. I hope they feel blessed! 9:30am (China time) fHad to post quickly before we left. I updated a couple of pictures on all the pages so far ... all of Zoe of course as I'm not real keen on pictures taken of me after 24 hours of no sleep! LOL This first picture today I just HAD to take because the temp is still low but there is actually sunshine. I even see a hint of a blue sky. We even saw a plane in the sky in the distance from the hotel window as we ate breakfast. For those who have been here, you'll understand the significance of that. For the rest of you ... let's just say it's my 3rd trip and the first time I've seen sun. Sure helps. More pics to come later 9:30pm (China time) Ok, Ok, I know I promised pictures but they will just have to wait. We just got back and we're all toast. Tomorrow is the Great wall, etc and we will be able to share some of what we've been seeing/learning. |
